Babylon Woman Killed in Crash with Unlicensed Driver in Dix Hills

Dix Hills, NY - May 12th, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a woman in Dix Hills this morning.
 
Cassandra Walter was driving a 2000 Saturn northbound on Commack Road near Euclid Avenue when she apparently lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the double yellow line and struck a southbound 2000 Honda minivan at approximately 7 a.m.
 
Walter, 26, of Babylon, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The Honda driver, Alex Dario Oliva Rodriguez, 35, of Hempstead, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was treated and released.
 
Rodriguez was subsequently arrested for Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
