NCPD: Five Arrested in Roosevelt on Riot and Related Charges

Roosevelt, NY - May 12, 2014 - The First Squad reports the details of five Arrests which occurred on May 11, 2014 at 4:56 am in Roosevelt.
 
According to detectives, First Precinct officers while on routine patrol observed a large disturbance in front of 5 1st Place. As the officers approached the house and attempting to locate the owner, an intoxicated female defendant Danielle Davenport, 30, of 78 Melrose Avenue, Massapequa confronted the officers claiming to be the homeowner screaming and cursing at the officers. Defendants Gerina Leftenant, 33, of 17 Fordham Place, Hempstead, Jalise Alford, 21, of 5 1st Place and Shandlis Utsey, 21, of 5 1st Place, charged the officers with closed fists and refusing to follow direct orders. Shandlis Utsey then retrieved two six inch metal knives from the kitchen and began waving them towards the officers. After a struggle, the officers were able to place the defendants into custody. The homeowner, Kenya Utsey, 39, 5 1st Place was located and placed under arrest. 
 
Defendants Davenport, Leftenant and Alford are charged with Riot 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. Defendant Shandlis Utsey is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd and 4th Degree, Riot 2nd Degree and Menacing a Police Officer. Defendant Kenya Utsey is being charged with Criminal Nuisance and General Provision Sale Without an Appropriate License. They will be arraigned on May 12, 2014 at First District Court, Hempstead.
