Legislator Anker, Sound Beach Civic Association and SCPD to Host NARCAN Training Class

Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker in conjunction with the Sound Beach Civic Association and the Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD) will host a NARCAN training class on Monday, June 13th, 2022. 
 
The class meets the NYS Department of Health requirements and will train participants to recognize an opioid overdose, administer intranasal NARCAN, and know what steps to take until EMS arrives during an emergency situation. Participants will also have an opportunity to hear a presentation from SCPD 7th Precinct Officers about fentanyl. 
 
This class will be held at the Sound Beach Fire Department’s upstairs meeting room during the Sound Beach Civic Association’s general monthly meeting from 7:30pm – 8:30 pm on Monday, June 13th.  Please RVSP on or before June 13th by calling 631-854-1600 or emailing emily.murphy@suffolkcountyny.gov.

“We want to do whatever we can to make sure people have naloxone on hand and know how to use it,” said Bea Ruberto, Sound Beach Civic Association President. “It can save a life and we encourage members of the Civic as well as the community at large to sign up for this really important presentation.”
