Legislator Lindsay’s Semi-Annual Holbrook Clean-up Was A Huge Success
Holbrook, NY - May 9, 2018 - Suffolk County Legislator Bill Lindsay III along with the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce sponsored their semi-annual Holbrook Spring Clean-Up this past Saturday. This year roughly 50 volunteers came to Legislator Lindsay’s office to collect supplies such as garbage bags, gloves, garbage pickers, and safety vests in order to pick up litter in our community.
The Chamber of Commerce first started this event with former Presiding Officer Bill Lindsay and they have continued this tradition; holding the ninth community cleanup with current Legislator, Bill Lindsay. This year’s participants included cub scouts, boy scouts, elementary and middle school students, and our neighbors. The Holbrook community joined together with great enthusiasm and energy, to make our community a cleaner place.
“Year after year I am grateful to the community members that join us for our semi-annual clean-ups,” said Legislator Lindsay. “Clean-ups are vital to our quality of life in Suffolk County. It makes me proud to see the excellent turnout for events like this and witness the passion that our residents have for our community. I look forward to working with everyone again next fall.”
Holbrook Chamber of Commerce President, Rick Ammirati stated: “It’s always great to see members from the community come out and participate in our semi-annual Holbrook Clean-up Day. The cleanups truly make a difference not only aesthetically but even more importantly in the lives of the young people who participate along with their parents and/or affiliated organizations. It is truly our hope that with joining this effort it will leave a lasting impression for them on how important it is to refrain and discourage other peers from littering.”
