Bay Street Theater Announces Cast And Creative Team For "Frost/Nixon"

Sag Harbor, NY - May 9, 2018 - Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the cast and creative team for the second production in their 2018 Mainstage Season: FROST/NIXON, a play by Peter Morgan, directed by Sarna Lapine. The production will run from June 26 – July 22, 2018. Single tickets are now on sale, and tickets are also still available as part of a Mainstage Subscription. FROST/NIXON brings you inside the landmark series of interviews between David Frost and former President Nixon that occurred three years after he resigned. With the greatest political scandal in modern history far from forgotten and many of the nation’s questions left unanswered, what ensues is a battle of wits that pits an ambitious journalist against one of America’s most controversial presidents. FROST/NIXON is a riveting story of the collision of politics and the media.
 
FROST/NIXON will star Obie and Lucille Lortel Award winner Harris Yulin (OZARK, SCARFACE, Bay Street's HEDDA GABLER) as Richard Nixon and Obie and Outer Critics Circle Award winner Daniel Gerroll (ENCHANTED APRIL, BBC'S WOMAN IN WHITE, Bay Street's ACCOMPLICE, DISSONANCE and many others) as David Frost. The cast will also feature Stephen Lee Anderson as Swifty Lazaar/Mike Wallace, Cecillia Koueth as Evonne Goolagong, Christian Conn as Jim Reston, Michael Corvino as Manolo Sanchez, Brian Keane as Bob Zelnick, Danielle Slavick as Caroline Cushing, Price Waldman as John Birt, and Rich Topol as Jack Brennan.
 
FROST/NIXON is a play written by Peter Morgan (THE QUEEN, Netflix’s THE CROWN) and directed by Sarna Lapine (SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE). Other members of the creative team include Wilson Chin (Set Designer), Ken Billington (Lighting Designer), Emilio Sosa (Costume Designer), Josh Schmidt (Sound Designer), Tal Yarden (Projections Designer), Jared Janas (Hair Designer), Andrew Diaz (Prop Designer), Stephen Gabis (Dialect Coach), and Lori Lundquist (Production Stage Manager).

The 2018 Mainstage Season is made accessible for all through special ticket offers such as "$30 under 30", which offers $30 tickets to individuals under 30 years old (sponsored by Corcoran), and "$20 under 20", which offers $20 tickets to individuals under 20 years old. Bay Street Theater also offers Free Student tickets for all Sunday matinee performances (Student ID required) and will host a “Pay What You Can” performance of FROST/NIXON on June 26 at 7 pm, sponsored by Sotheby’s International Realty. Previews of FROST/NIXON are June 26 - 29, which are sponsored by Peconic Landing. On Sunday, July 15 Bay Street invites members of our LGBTQ audience to the 2 pm performance, with special after party to follow.
 
Bay Street Theater will also offer “Talkback Tuesdays” with members of the FROST/NIXON cast on Tuesdays July 3, July 10, and July 17 immediately following the performance.
 
Sarna Lapine is a New York-based director and developer of new work. Recent productions include the Japan premiere of Anna Ziegler’s PHOTOGRAPH 51, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre and the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford. Upcoming productions include a new musical by Neil Bartram and Brian Hill, YOU ARE HERE at Goodspeed Musicals; NOISES OFF at Two Rivers; THE RAPE OF LUCRETIA for Boston Lyric Opera; and Kate Hamill’s adaptation of LITTLE WOMEN for Primary Stages. Lapine has directed concerts for the L.A. Philharmonic at The Hollywood Bowl, the Boston Pops at Tanglewood, Umeda Arts Theater in Tokyo and Osaka, The Café Carlyle, 54 Below and the 92nd Street Y. In addition to productions at regional theaters around the country and in Canada, she was the Associate Director of The National Theatre’s War Horse tour of North America and Japan and directed the 2nd national tour of Lincoln Center Theater’s SOUTH PACIFIC. Lapine began her theater career in New York assisting Bartlett Sher on THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, AWAKE AND SING!, and SOUTH PACIFIC. She holds an MFA from Columbia University.
 
Daniel Gerroll is one of Bay Street Theater’s most seasoned actors, having performed in a number of previous engagements at Bay Street (his favorite theater) include directing and performing in ACCOMPLICE, BLITHE SPIRIT, and NO TIME FOR COMEDY, directing Schnitzler’s BACCHANALIA, Pinter’s THE LOVER (double bill) and DARWIN IN MALIBU. Gerroll acted in DINNER and most recently DISSONANCE. He has appeared on Broadway in PLENTY, HIGH SOCIETY and ENCHANTED APRIL. Off-Broadway credits include most of the major non-profit companies including the Roundabout, Manhattan Theatre Club, and New York Shakespeare Company. Earlier this year, he appeared in THE WHITE CARD in Boston and last year played C.S. Lewis in SHADOWLANDS. Films include CHARIOTS OF FIRE, BIG BUSINESS, and STILL ALICE. TV: SEINFELD, CHEERS, KNOTS LANDING, CASHMERE MAFIA, STARTER WIFE, UGLY BETTY, and the lead role in BBC’s WOMAN IN WHITE.
 
After studying with the blacklisted actor Jeff Corey in Los Angeles, Harris Yulin spent two years living in Europe and Israel, dubbing films into English and performing a nightclub show with William Burroughs at the Club Montparnasse in Paris. He made his New York debut in 1963 in James Saunders’ NEXT TIME I’LL SING TO YOU, with James Earl Jones and Estelle Parsons at the Phoenix Theatre. Many plays, Broadway, off-Broadway and elsewhere followed. Recent appearances: LONG DAY’S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT at the Court Theatre, Chicago; DEATH OF A SALESMAN at the Gate Theatre, Dublin; CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF at the Chautauqua Festival, and ever trying to get it right, his third try as Claudius in HAMLET at the Classic Stage Company in New York. 
 
Yulin appeared at Bay Street in HEDDA GABLER and directed their production of Joe Pintauro’s MEN’S LIVES. Broadway plays have included the above mentioned HEDDA GABLER, and Durrenmatt’s THE VISIT, Arthur Miller’s THE PRICE, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, Lillian Hellman’s WATCH ON THE RHINE, Athol Fugard’s A LESSON FROM ALOES. He has performed in many plays off-Broadway, The New York Shakespeare Festival and regional. His production of Horton Foote’s THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL won many Lortel awards at the Signature Theatre in New York, playing an extended run before moving to the Goodman Theatre, Chicago. He began his directing career in 1970 at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario with a production of CANDIDA featuring the great and only Stanley Holloway. His first film was in 1968 - Terry Southern’s script of John Barth’s END OF THE ROAD directed by Adam Avakian. Other films and TV include CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, SCARFACE, MULTIPLICITY, GHOSTBUSTERS 2, CANDY MOUNTAIN, etc. TV includes OZARK (now screening on Netflix), WIOU, a series for CBS, and many TV movies and series. He’s done extensive work in radio and many narrations, the audiobooks of two Ross MacDonald novels as well as Norman Mailer’s last, THE CASTLE AND THE ROCK. He taught, acted and directed at the Juilliard School for ten years.
