Police Seeking Female ID Theft Suspect Who Opened Credit Card in Victim's Name, Charged Nearly $4,000

Garden City, NY - May 9, 2017 - The Third Squad is investigating an Identity Theft that occurred on April 26, 2017 in East Garden City.
 
According to detectives, a 44 year old female victim contacted police when she received correspondence from Macy’s that they could not grant her a credit card due to the lack of a credit record. The victim contacted Macy’s and was told someone tried to open a credit card in her name on April 26, 2017 at the Roosevelt Field store. 
 
The victim also learned that a Bloomingdales credit card was successfully opened at the Roosevelt Field store on April 26, 2017 and over $3800 of merchandise was purchased.
 
Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.
