Hauppauge, NY, May 2013 – Legislator Sarah Anker recently recognized Pamela Johnston, Executive Director of Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS), for her tireless work to end domestic violence, rape and abuse in our communities.

Since 1976, VIBS has been a leader in the movement against domestic violence and rape crisis.  As their mission statement states, VIBS serves “to assist the survivors of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault; to prevent the incidence of these crimes through education and services; and to raise community awareness of the need for justice and compassion for victims."

“Pamela’s dedication is truly extraordinary,” said Legislator Anker. “Suffolk residents deserve to live in a safe community, free of abuse. Pamela’s organization works to ensure that our families have the opportunity to better their quality of life.”

Some of the services offered by VIBS include hotline intervention, counseling, advocacy, court accompaniment, outreach, and community education. To learn more about the organization, visit www.vibs.org or call 631- 360-3730.
