Written by WFSD News  |  08. May 2014

Moriches & Shirley, NY, May 8, 2014 – Students at William Floyd Middle School and Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School in the William Floyd School District recently welcomed Chris Pendergast of the Ride for Life organization on day two of his 12-day trek from Long Island to New York City which is designed to raise funds and awareness to “strike out” ALS (amytrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease).

The students from each school greeted Chris and Ride for Life members with encouraging signs and uplifting songs; then accompanied him along his route for a short period of time. Additionally, both schools are holding ongoing fundraisers for the organization and William Floyd Middle School presented him with a preliminary check of $500 raised from a student council plant sale.
