The Paramount Congratulates Ed Sheeran For His Victory in Court

Written by Lon Cohen  |  06. May 2023

On Thursday, a jury found pop star Ed Sheeran not guilty of copyright infringement in a case brought against him by the heirs to the co-writer of Marvin Gaye’s 1973 hit “Let’s Get it On,” saying that the British singer copied the older song for the hit single “Thinking Out Loud.”

To celebrate, Sheeran gave an impromptu concert in Manhattan, where he hopped on top of a parked car in SoHo and performed.

Back in 2014, Sheeran also popped into Huntington for another surprise concert at The Paramount. As reported by Newsday, Sheeran twitter the news last minute saying, “I've never done this before, and it's very last minute, but I feel like doing a show, so come on down to the paramount Huntington, love x.”

The Paramount congratulated Sheeran on its billboard outside the venue with a message that read “One of the good guys wins!”

In a message on Facebook the music venue also posted support for the singer.

“Justice prevails! Congrats to Ed Sheeran - a well-deserved victory 🎉 And let's not forget the iHeartRadio Titanium Award for “Shivers” reaching 1 BILLION total audience spins on iHeartRadio 🙌 Here's to more success and great music from Ed!”
