Islip High School Coach Arrested for Abusing a Student, SCPD Reports

Suffolk County Police have arrested an Islip High School coach for inappropriately touching a student in Islip on Friday, May 3.
 
Islip School District officials notified the school resource officer of an incident during which a high school coach inappropriately touched a female student at Islip High School, located at 2508 Union Blvd., on May 2 at 8:20 p.m. The school resource officer contacted Special Victims Section detectives about the incident.
 
Following an investigation by Special Victims detectives, Tyler Murphy, 25, of Islip, was charged with Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Murphy will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
