Riverhead, NY - May 6, 2014 - The East End Employment Expo is revving up again for Tuesday, May 13th from 5-7pm at the Sea Star Ballroom located at the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center.

Hosted by the Riverhead Industrial Development Agency and The Riverhead Chamber of Commerce, this year’s job fair will feature a wider range of opportunity for those seeking employment.

Unique to the expo this year, is a significant increase in the number of higher-skilled labor, trade and craftsman opportunities. According to Tracy Stark-James, CEO of the Riverhead IDA and Board President of the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce, “Many of the manufacturing and technology companies at the Enterprise Park in Calverton (EPCAL) are growing and seeking a higher-skilled workforce, such as architectural drafters, marketing representatives, craftsman, installers, carpenters, water-proofers, metal fabricators, glazers, and sales representatives. Most companies today are recruiting these types of jobs through electronic media, but they will be available at the expo to individually meet with those seeking employment or career changes.”

These employment opportunities are in addition to the seasonal, retail, hospitality, financial and insurance positions that the job fair typically attracts this time of year, all of which will be present again. Teaching assistants, drivers and care counselors are also being sought after. This incredible wide variety of industries will be offering positions from entry level and part time to professional and full time.

Participating companies are not just located in Riverhead either. They come from as far as Bohemia or as close as Westhampton. Some of the participating companies are: Island International Exterior Fabricators, Hotel Indigo, Adecco Staffing, Best Buy, Apple Honda, Suffolk County National Bank, Developmental Disabilities Institute, Riverhead Building Supply, Blue Duck Bakery & Café, LI Aquarium & Exhibition Center, Hyatt East End, Teachers Federal Credit Union, Arthur Murray Dance Studio, JP Morgan Chase Bank, Riverhead Toyota, various stores at Tanger Outlet and more.

“We have been successful at attracting as many as 300 applicants in the past,” stated Mary Hughes, Executive Director of the Chamber “and we hope this fair will be just as successful at making employment connections for our community and beyond. We want to continue to build the reputation of the event as a unique opportunity where professional level jobs are offered as well as part time and seasonal, each year attracting higher paying positions.”

Those seeking employment are not requested to pre-register.  Attendees will register at the door and be provided with a list of participating companies, the positions available and a chance to win a door prize.

If there are companies still wishing to participate, they should contact the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce to register at 727-7600 or register at riverheadchamber.com.
