Mastic Beach, NY - May 5, 2016 - William Floyd Middle School art students, under the direction of art teacher Timothy Kosta, created a mural to hang above the recently opened William Floyd Middle School Food Pantry. Inspired by renowned Pop artist Andy Warhol and his famous soup can art, the students created it reminiscent of his style and included positive messages on each soup can. The mural, like the food pantry, is designed to bring hope to all who utilize it. Each of the 14 smaller cans include encouraging words such as faith, selfless, supportive, give, compassion, kindness, generous, sharing, hope, goodness, serving, trust, thankfulness and love.

The William Floyd Middle School Food Pantry, a partnership with Long Island Harvest, is open on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month excluding school holidays and breaks from 5 pm to 7 pm. Non-perishable food items and basic necessities are available to those in need or going through a difficult time.
