Uniondale, NY - May 3, 2016 - PSEG Long Island is committed to helping small businesses and the local economy thrive. As the country comes together to celebrate National Small Business Week, the utility is proud to promote the wide array of energy efficiency programs to all of its small business customers across Long Island and in the Rockaways.

“Powering the local economy and small businesses with safe, reliable and resilient electricity is a primary focus for PSEG Long Island,” said Dan Eichhorn, vice president of customer services, PSEG Long Island. “Since day one, we have worked hard to connect personally with business owners through our Main Street Outreach program, providing an education on how we can help them save money on their electric bill and how we are helping them grow the local economy.”

Through PSEG Long Island’s energy efficiency programs, small businesses can receive an energy consultation that will provide details on how PSEG Long Island can help them save energy and money. A consultation consists of a walkthrough of an existing facility where all existing data is collected on power equipment. The resulting report will suggest recommendations based on existing equipment and any potential energy efficiency upgrades.

In 2015, commercial customers completed more than 3,200 energy efficient projects, resulting in savings of more than 112 million kWh and electric bill savings of $20 million per year. Nearly 70 percent of the completed projects were for small- and medium-sized businesses. The Commercial Efficiency Program provides businesses with solutions to save energy and lower operating costs, freeing up capital to improve the bottom line.

PSEG Long Island’s energy efficiency programs have helped Long Island and the Rockaways based businesses stay competitive by saving energy and reducing operating costs. Our economic development programs have kept more than 5,600 jobs on Long Island, while helping to add more than 3,000 new jobs.

Independent annual evaluations by Opinion Dynamics Corporation have found PSEG Long Island’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Programs to generate energy savings that are cost-effective. In their evaluation for 2014, Opinion Dynamics found that the Commercial Efficiency Program has a benefit/cost ratio of 3.2, which means that the program generated $3.20 in benefits to the utility and its customers for every $1.00 in costs to operate the program, including rebates.
