Officials: East Meadow Couple Nabbed with Painkillers, Crack, Heroin, Needles While Driving with Kids in Car

Westbury, NY - May 2, 2018 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of two people for Endangering the Welfare of a Child that occurred on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:45 pm in Westbury.
 
According to detectives, CIRRT (Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team) Officers observed a 2017 Dodge Ram travelling eastbound on Corporate Drive with extensive front end damage and a yellow flashlight affixed to the vehicle being used as a headlight. Officers conducted a vehicle traffic stop and observed a broken glass tube with a white residue believed to be crack cocaine and a black folding knife in the center console. Also two (2) children ages 5 and 6 were seated in the rear without the proper child restraints. Defendants Francis Dima, 45, (male driver) and Andrea Dima, 38, of East Meadow were placed under arrest. 
 
Subsequent to the arrests the defendants were found to be in possession of 89 green round pills imprinted “U23”believed to be oxycodone hydrochloride, crack cocaine, heroin and multiple hypodermic needles on their person. Their two children were released to a family member. 
 
Defendant Francis Dima is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and several VTL violations. Defendant Andrea Dima is being charged with 6 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. They will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
