Suffolk Legislator Anker Participates in WAR on Addiction Anti-Drug Rally

Farmingville, NY - May 1, 2018 - On April 21st, 2018, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker, attended the WAR on Addiction Rally at the Pennysaver Amphitheater at Bald Hill in Farmingville. In memory of Billy Reitzig, his father, William Reitzig, organized the rally to educate the residents on the dangers of drug use and overdose, provide support services, raise money for Hope House Ministries, and to inspire hope.
 
Featured at the event were treatment and recovery organizations, support groups, drug awareness advocate speakers, NARCAN training, Shed the Meds, holistic education, and music by the Hope House Ministries band, the HYMNS.
 
“Events like the WAR on Addiction Rally are so important and instrumental in educating the public on the dangers of drug use and the epidemic that has spread across this country. We must continue these efforts and increase awareness of beneficial resources to assist our loved ones and community members affected by addiction,” said Legislator Anker.
 
Anthony Rizzuto of Families in Support of Treatment (FIST), Steve Chassman of Long Island Council of Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD), Dr. Jeff Reynolds of Family and Children’s Association, and Father Frank Pizzarelli of Hope House Ministries were all in attendance to share their repsective expertise and knowledge on how to combat addiction and what their organizations have to offer to those who are seeking help.
