Governor Cuomo Announces More Than $100 Million To Pave Roads Impacted By This Year's Extreme Winter

Albany, NY - April 30, 2018 - Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced more than $100 million in state funding to repave and enhance roadways impacted by the harsh weather this past winter. Funding will support 84 projects and the renewal of nearly 1,000 lane miles of pavement across the state, including at least one project in every county and New York City. The new funding, awarded through the Harsh Winter Paving Initiative, is in addition to nearly $300 million previously committed for projects that repave approximately 1,600 lane miles of road across New York State. The unprecedented infrastructure investment will make state highways safer and more efficient, while encouraging local commerce and tourism. The projects will take place throughout the summer and into fall, and will be completed this year.

"These investments are critical to our transportation system and essential for community growth and regional economic competitiveness," Governor Cuomo said. "By infusing more than $100 million in state funds to revitalize our roads, we are enhancing the quality of life for all New Yorkers while ensuring every traveler remains safe throughout the Empire State."

The State Budget included $65 million in Extreme Weather Recovery funds for locally-owned roadways, and this additional $100 million investment will support the renewal of state-owned roadways. This critical funding is supported through the New York State Department of Transportation's five-year capital plan and is in addition to the $743 million provided in this year's budget in direct state aid to local governments for road and bridge repair and modernization.

"I applaud Governor Cuomo for making this major investment in our state roadways," New York State Department of Transportation Acting Commissioner Paul A. Karas said. "The roads we are paving this summer provide important connections within and between communities, linking downtowns to business districts and supporting our agriculture and tourism industries."

Senator Joseph E. Robach, Chair of the Senate Committee on Transportation said, "It is critically important that when motorists use roadways across New York State that they that are safe and in optimal condition. I was pleased in this years' budget, the Senate, Assembly and Governor committed significant funding to make necessary repairs to roads and infrastructure in every region of our state in response to the effects of the winter season. I will continue to work tireless to ensure that New Yorkers have modern, 21st century roads, bridges and infrastructure and parity in transportation funding for every region of our state."

Assemblyman David F. Gantt, Chair of the Assembly Committee on Transportation said, "I'm pleased that the Legislature and Governor were able to prioritize the need for this additional funding in this year's budget. This Harsh Winter Paving Initiative will ensure that every county in the State will see additional paving improvements."

Capital Region

Approximately $11.4 million in projects to pave 92 lane miles of the following roads in Columbia, Greene, Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga, Washington and Warren counties:

$2.2 million to resurface Route 22A from Route 22 to between Route 18A and the Vermont State Line in Washington County.
$1.9 million to resurface Route 9N from Northwest Bay to Dock Road in Warren County.
$1.4 million to resurface Route 157 from 157A to Route 85in Albany County.
$1.6 million to resurface Route 160 from Route 159 to Route 5S in Schenectady County.
$1.5 million to resurface Route 42 from approximately twomiles from the Greene/Ulster County Line to bridge over Schoharie Creek in Greene County.
$666,000 to resurface Route 346 from Route 22 to Vermont State Line in Rensselaer County.
$660,000 to resurface Route 32 from Mott Road to Route 197/Reynolds Road in Saratoga County.
$1.5 Million to resurface Route 9 from the Hudson City Line to Route 82 in Columbia County.

Mohawk Valley

Approximately $9.4 million in projects to pave 91 lane miles of the following roads in Oneida, Herkimer, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie and Otsego counties:

$1.8 million to pave Route 294 from Lewis County line tothe Boonville Fairgrounds in Oneida County.
$2.8 million to pave Route 29 from Lasselville to Route 10A in Fulton County.
$610,000 to pave Route 171 from Gulph Road to the 5S Underpass in Herkimer County.
$1.7 million to pave Route 10 from Palatine Bridge to the Fulton County line in Montgomery County.
$1.1 million to resurface Route 7 from Merchant Place to Schenectady County Line in Schoharie County.
$708,000 to resurface Route 28 from Tunnicliff Road to US Route 20 in Otsego County.
$675,000 to resurface Route 7 from near Davis Drive to the Village of Otego line in Otsego County.

Central New York

Approximately $16.4 million in projects to pave 134 lane miles of the following roads in Oswego, Onondaga, Cayuga, Cortland and Madison counties:

$1.3 million to resurface Route 20 from the Madison County Line to Route 92 in Madison County.
$1.5 million resurface Route 31, from Stevens Road to Route 690 in Onondaga County.
$2.2 million to address pavement cracking on Route 11 from the Village of Pulaski north line to the Jefferson County Line in Oswego County.
$616,000 to resurface Route 41 from Collard Road to Route 20 in Onondaga County.
$1.2 million to resurface Route 3 from the Village of Mexico's north boundary line to Deer Creek in Oswego County.
$2.8 million to address pavement cracking on Route 34 from the Tompkins County line to Venice Center in Cayuga County.
$2.7 million to address pavement cracking on Route 41 from Route 26 in Willet to the South Solon Town Line in Cortland County.
$1.1 million to resurface Route 3 from the East Fulton City Line to Route 264 in Oswego County.
$2.1 million to resurface Route 11 from Route 392 to Route 41 in Cortland County.
$850,000 to resurface Route 91 from North of Coleman HillRoad to Route 173 in Onondaga County.

Finger Lakes

Approximately $12.3 million in projects to pave 155 lane miles of the following roads in Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Monroe, Wayne, Ontario, Yates, Seneca counties:

$1.1 million to resurface Route 89 from Canoga to Routes 5 and 20 in Seneca County.
$1.0 million to resurface Route 31 in the Village of Albion in Orleans County.
$1.0 million to resurface Route 36 from Route 31 to Route 531 in Monroe County.
$430 thousand to resurface Route 65 from Erie Canal to Route 31 in Monroe County.
$957,000 to resurface Route 20 from Route 36 to Route 5 in Livingston County.
$1.5 million to resurface Route 89 from Route 31 to Route 104 in Wayne County.
$1.5 million to resurface Route 245 from Route 247 to Route 14A in Ontario County.

Approximately $4.8 million in projects to pave 69 lane miles of the following roads in Niagara, Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties:

$1.9 million to resurface Rout 394 from Gerry Levant to Randolph Village Line in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties.
$850,000 to pave US Route 62 from Taylor Hollow Road to Hussey Gulf Creek in Erie County.
$750,000 to resurface Route 446 from Route 16 to Allegany County Line in Cattaraugus County.
$700,000 to resurface Route 93 from County Line to Hunts Corners Road in Erie County.
$315,000 to resurface Route 78 from Jacques Road to Ewings Road in Niagara County.
$275,000 to perform maintenance paving on Route 244 from Belmont to Clark Road in Allegany County.

North Country

Approximately $8.0 million in projects to pave 73 lane miles of the following roads in Lewis, Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, Essex and Hamilton counties:

$1.6 million to pave Route 10 in the Town of Arietta from six miles south of Route 8 to Route 8 (end of Route 10) in Hamilton County.
$1.6 million to resurface Route 11 from Route 11C to Route11C in Saint Lawrence County.
$1.1 million to resurface Route 180 from Route 12E to Route 12 in Jefferson County.
$420,000 to resurface Route 812 from Black River to Tillman Road in Lewis County.
$900,000 to resurface Route 190 from Sample Way to Ellenburg in Clinton County.
$600,000 to pave Route 37 from California Road to Malone Village in Franklin County.
$1.8 million for pavement resurfacing Route 3 from Franklin/Essex County line to access road to bridge over Saranac River in Essex County.

Mid-Hudson Valley

Approximately $14.4 million in projects to pave 86 lane miles of the following roads in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan counties:

$1.7 million to resurface Route 100 (Hillside Avenue) between Route 119 (Tarrytown Road) and Virginia Road in Westchester County.
$1.8 million to resurface Route 100 between Parent Road and Route 202 in Westchester County
$1.7 million to resurface Route 6 and Route 52 between Route 301 and Arborview Road in Putnam County.
$2.6 million to resurface Route 6 between Old Greenville Turnpike and Route 17M in Orange County.
$1.5 million to resurface Route 9W between Union Avenue (County Route 69) and Route 17K in Orange County.
$590,000 to resurface Route 9W between Dunderberg Mountain and the north entrance of Seven Lakes Drive (Bear Mountain Park entrance) in Rockland County.
$275,000 to resurface Route 299 between Route 32 (North Front Street) and the NYS Thruway Overpass (Interstate 87) in Ulster County.
$1.0 million to resurface Route 199 between Stissing Mountain Road and Highway Blvd in Dutchess County.
$2.0 million to resurface Route 97 between the Orange County line and VanTuyl Road in Sullivan County.
$1.2 million to resurface Route 52 between Route 17B and Route 52A in Sullivan County.

Southern Tier

Approximately $18.8 million in projects to pave 179 lane miles of the following roads in Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Tioga, Broome, Chenango and Delaware counties:

$1.8 million to address pavement cracking on Route 327 from Routes 13, 34 and 96 to Route 79 in Tompkins County.
$1.4 million to perform preventive maintenance paving on Route 54 from County Route 113 to Route 54A in Steuben County.
$1.5 million to resurface Routes 414, 79, 54 in the Town of Hector in Schuyler County and the Town of Barrington in Yates County.
$2.6 million to perform maintenance paving on Route 427 from Cedar St to Chemung and Route 224 from Alpine Junction to the Chemung County line in Chemung County.
$2.1 million to resurface Route 10 from High Street in the Town of Walton to Launt Hollow Road in the town of Hamden in Delaware County.
$2.3 million to resurface severely cracked and deteriorated roadway on Route 38B from the eastern Tioga County line (Stratton Road) to Route 38 in Tioga County.
$822,000 to resurface Route 41 from the Route 17 Exit 82 interchange to Parker Road in Broome County.
$1.8 million to resurface Route 12 from near County Route 32 to the Sherburne Village line in Chenango County.
$1.8 million to resurface Route 28 from the Village of Andes line to the Little Delaware River in Delaware County.
$495,000 to resurface Route 26 from Route 38B to the Maine Memorial School in the Town of Maine in Broome County.

Approximately $5.7 million in projects to pave 20 lane miles of the following roads in Nassau and Suffolk counties:

$2.3 million to resurface Route 105 from Wantagh Ave to Route 107 in Nassau County.
$3.4 million to resurface Route 454 from Sycamore Ave to 13th Ave in Suffolk County.

New York City

Approximately $2.7 million in projects to pave 42 lane miles of the following roads in New York City:

$575,000 to resurface the northbound side of the Bruckner Expressway from Balcom Avenue to the Throgs Neck Expressway Merge.
$805,000 to pave the southbound side of the Bruckner Expressway from Throgs Neck Expressway Split to Balcom Avenue.
$222,000 to resurface the northbound side of the Henry Hudson Parkway between W160th Street and Exit 14 to George Washington Bridge.
$212,000 to resurface the northbound side of Henry Hudson Parkway between Exit 14 to George Washington Bridge and W176th Street.
$100,000 to resurface the southbound side of Henry Hudson Parkway between Exit 17 to Dyckman Street and W129th Street.
$38,000 for concrete repairs on the eastbound side of Grand Central Parkway from the New York City Transit Authority Bridge to the entrance ramp of the Union Turnpike at Kew Gardens Interchange.
