NCPD Arson Bomb Squad Investigates Fuel Air Explosion in Elmont

Elmont, NY - April 30, 2015 - The Arson Bomb Squad is investigating an incident that occurred on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 8:33 am in Elmont.

According to detectives, a 62 year old male victim was attempting to light a welding torch when a fuel air explosion occurred.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for burns to his face, chest, hands and the loss of three fingers.  The victim is employed by LJC Dismantling Corporation 415 Meacham Avenue.  The incident occurred at 1349 Star Avenue, which is located across the street.  The Elmont Fire Department and the Nassau County Fire Marshalls’ responded to the scene.

The investigation is on-going.
