Suffolk County Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred in East Farmingdale last night, April 29. The incident left a pedestrian critically injured.

According to detectives, a male pedestrian in his 60s was traversing Wellwood Avenue around 10:50 PM when he was struck by a 2008 Mercedes Benz traveling southbound. The driver of the Mercedes, Oliver David of Freeport, got out of his car and attempted to stop traffic, but was unable to prevent another vehicle from striking the pedestrian a second time.

The second vehicle—which has been described as an older Nissan, silver in color—fled the scene immediately after hitting the victim. It was last seen going southbound on Wellwood Avenue toward the Southern State Parkway.

An SCPD helicopter transported the victim to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is being treated for both head and internal injuries. His identity has not been released, but police did say that the victim is undomiciled.

As the investigation continues, police are asking anyone who may have information regarding the second crash to contact them at 631-852-6555, or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.

No charges have been pressed against Oliver David.
