Legislator Anker Discusses Addiction Epidemic at Suffolk County Quality Consortium

Brentwood, NY - April 28th, 2015 - On April 17th, Legislator Sarah Anker attended a legislative roundtable hosted by the Quality Consortium of Suffolk County on “Addiction on Long Island: Moving from Crisis to Comprehensive Healthcare.” 
 
The event was sponsored by HUGS, Inc. and held at Outreach House, an adolescent residential treatment facility in Brentwood. During the session, elected officials, government representatives, and not-for-profit organizations discussed current health care trends, gaps in service, and how health care providers can work with county leadership to address the addiction epidemic within Suffolk County. 
 
“It’s vital that we work together at every level to solve problems, especially dealing with Suffolk County’s addiction epidemic,” said Legislator Anker.

The Quality Consortium of Suffolk County consists of non-profit organizations across Long Island that are dedicated to drug treatment and recovery services. 
 
Agency members include Alternatives Counseling Center, Catholic Charities, CK Post Addiction Treatment Center, Daytop Suffolk, Eastern Suffolk BOCES, Family Service League, Hope for Youth, HUGS, Inc., Huntington Drug and Alcohol, Madonna Heights- Morningstar, Mather Memorial Hospital, Outreach, Pederson-Krag, Phoenix House of LI, Prevention Resource Center, Quannacut at Eastern Long Island Hospital, Smithtown Horizons, St. Charles Hospital, Town of Babylon, Drug and Alcohol, and YMBA Long Island.
