Albertson Water District Commissioner Honored by NSWCA & Nassau County Department of Public Works

Former NSCWA President Howard Abbondondelo of Albertson Water District receives two awards at a recent NSWCA meeting for his water district meritorious dedication and service.

Albertson, NY - April 28, 2015 - Former 2014 Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners’ Association (NSWCA) President Howard Abbondondelo of Albertson Water District was recently honored with two awards for his water district meritorious service at a recent NSWCA meeting sponsored by Plainview Water District Commissioners Andrew N. Bader, current NSWCA 2nd Vice President, Joel Kessler and Marc B. Laykind.

Mr. Abbondondelo was presented with a handsome statuette by 2015 NSWCA President Thomas P. Hand of Massapequa Water District, who commented, “Howard is richly deserving of our appreciation.  This trophy commemorates his leadership, guidance and concern for the NSWCA organization and the Long Island communities we serve, which is above and beyond the responsibilities of his position as NSWCA President.”

Mr. Abbondondelo was also awarded a citation for “Outstanding individual achievement, leadership and selfless commitment on behalf of the citizens of Nassau County” which was presented by Nassau County Department of Public Works’ Assistant to Deputy Commissioner Brian Schneider on behalf of Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano.

As 2014 NSWCA President, Mr. Abbondondelo presided over the official NSWCA website and outreach initiatives, directed NSWCA’s successful Educational Seminars Program and led NSWCA’s participation in the Hurricane Preparedness Seminar held in mid-summer 2014. While currently serving as an Albertson Water District Commissioner, Mr. Abbondondelo continues to remain active in NSWCA.   

Organized and chartered in 1981, Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners’ Association (NSWCA) is comprised of water commissioners from 21 Nassau County and Suffolk County water districts.  The NSWCA is dedicated to promoting environmental excellence and best practices as well as maintaining the highest standards of water quality and supply. NSWCA sponsors regular educational meetings on topics that include the environment, security, economics, rules and regulations, among other related issues.
