Written by Long Island News & PR  |  28. April 2014

New Hyde Park, NY - April 28th, 2014 - American Theater Dance Workshop becomes an official school of the Nomad Contemporary Ballet. The American Theater Dance Workshop in New Hyde Park, NY, under the Artistic Direction of Michelle and Jerome Vivona, is excited to announce this new and far reaching artistic partnership with the Nomad Contemporary Ballet Company will begin immediately in cooperation with Founding Artistic Director, Kristen McGrew and Assistant Director, Melissa Bartucci.

The Nomad Contemporary Ballet Company will begin residency in New Hyde Park at the American Theater Dance workshop this summer. This relationship will create a pathway for our ballet students to observe rehearsals, train, perform and work alongside the artistic staff and the professional dancers from the Nomad Company in both weekly classes and ballet master classes throughout the school year. “This partnership is an exhilarating milestone. ATDW has already sponsored two Nomad Repertory Workshops. An ATDW student was seen alongside our dancers and as a direct result of that she has been offered an Apprenticeship with Nomad. We look forward to nurturing and giving a first opportunity to these young dancers, a taste of the life of a professional dancer.” – said Nomad Assistant Director, Melissa Bartucci. The agreement will also afford the Nomad Contemporary Ballet Company additional rehearsal space in conjunction with their nomadic existence in Lower Manhattan.

“It’s thrilling to become a part of Long Island’s diverse arts scene and ATDW with over 30 years of training pre-professionals is a perfect fit for Nomad. The synergy between us has led to some very big plans for the year to come” – said Kristen McGrew, Nomad Artistic Director. "This artistic relationship will allow for more of our young dancers to be identified as possible apprentices and junior members of the Nomad as they begin their professional journey under the caring and supportive eyes of both the Nomad and ATDW teaching artists" says ATDW Artistic Director, Michelle Vivona.

"We could not be more excited by the added artistic growth opportunities and performance possibilities for our students; already we’ve seen young dancers identified to work with the company and gain performance opportunities this summer! This partnership fits into our mission of providing the best technical and artistic training environment possible for our pre-professional students. Kristen and Melissa are both fantastic creative artists and teachers and their company is fresh and exciting, we are truly fortunate to have them honing our ballet dancer’s artistic growth." Said ATDW Artistic Director - Jerome Vivona.
