NCPD: Fire Engulfs Oceanside Business and Spreads to Neighboring Stores with Apartments on Top

Oceanside, NY - April 26, 2016 - The Arson/Bomb Squad reports the details of a Fire which occurred on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 4:01 a.m. in Oceanside.

According to detectives, Fourth Precinct Patrol Officers were assigned to a building fire at 3120 Long Beach Road.  Upon arrival they discovered a strip of stores with apartments on top was on fire.  The D&D Convenience Store was fully engulfed.  Officers were able to evacuate the residents of the apartments.  More than 60 residents were displaced due to the damage.  The American Red Cross was notified to assist and provide shelter.  Oceanside, Baldwin, Island Park, Long Beach, East Rockaway, Freeport and Rockville Centre Fire Departments responded to extinguish the fire.  More than 75 firefighters and 14 pieces of apparatus were used to fight the blaze.  No injuries were reported.  The fire does not appear to be suspicious at this time.  The cause is undetermined.
