Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) recognized youngsters at Herricks School District’s Searingtown School on Wednesday, April 14 for their contributions to their recent Poetry Day observance. 

 

Students in teacher Diane Corgan’s third-grade class were presented with Nassau County certificates commending them for writing and illustrating haikus which they mailed to Legislator Birnbaum after her March 3 video-chat visit to their class. 

 

“It was a pleasure to visit Diane Corgan and her students to personally thank them for their beautiful letters to me which included wonderful haikus,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “As the spring season continues to blossom, I hope they will keep drawing inspiration from the world around them for their future literary and artistic pursuits.”
