Medford, NY - April 25, 2016 - NYS Department of Environmental Conservation requested the assistance of the Suffolk County SPCA in the removal of a 6 foot long alligator from a Medford home.  A complaint was received on April 24, 2016 that the alligator was being illegally kept on the property. The owner was charged by DEC Officers.

Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA said that the reptile has been transported to a licensed wildlife sanctuary out of state.  Gross said "alligators do not make good pets and one of this size could be deadly. Alligators will bite the hand that feeds them."
