Numbers reported daily by Nassau and Suffolk counties show that there are a total of 62,391 positive cases on Long Island as of Thursday night.

 

Suffolk reported that there are 30,267 confirmed cases at this time and Nassau reported 32,124 Total Covid-19 positives.

 

Suffolk County has administered 73,696 Covid-19 tests, 40.1% of those tested were confirmed positive. Nassau County did not report on the total number of tests administered.

 

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran did announce in a press conference on Friday that out of 100 people tested the day before 24 of the tests came back positive, a marked improvement from a month ago when 50% of the cases reported positive.

 

“That’s an all time-low,” she said.

 

Sadly, 2,430 people have died so far on Long Island from Covid-19. 959 deaths were in Suffolk County and 1,471 in Nassau County from Covid-19.

 

Suffolk County also reported that there are 1,340 patients hospitalized, down 37 from April 22. Of those, 494 are in the intensive care unit, which is a decrease of 5 patients from Wednesday.

 

In Nassau, there were 1,778 people hospitalized and of those 496 are in the ICU with 415 on ventilators. The county did report that 14 fewer people were on vents from the day before.

 

331 Covid patients have been discharged from the hospital between the two counties in the last 24 hours.

 

“Our hospitalization numbers continue to improve,” said Curran in her press conference on Friday. “We have the tenth straight day of declining hospitalization.”
