NYS Police: Drug Dealing Port Jefferson Mom Arrested for Feeding Her 4 Year-Old a Pot Brownie

Port Jefferson, NY - April 23, 2018 - Following a drug investigation, and the execution of a search warrant on Thursday April 19th, 2018 at approximately 11:15p.m., the New York State Police Troop L Narcotics Enforcement Unit arrested Sydney Marquez, age 29, of Port Jefferson, Suffolk County.
 
Marquez was found to be in possession of marijuana, concentrated cannabis, marijuana brownies, psilocybin mushrooms, along with packaging/shipping materials, books and records detailing her business.

Marquez was in the company of friends, in the kitchen, while her 4-year-old child was sleeping in the basement. Following an investigation, it is believed the child consumed a brownie which contained marijuana. The child was transported to a local hospital. Child Protective Services was notified and the child was later released from the hospital and turned over to a family member.
 
Marquez was arrested and is charged with:
 
  • Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, an A-11 Felony (Mushrooms)
  • Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree, a C-Felony (Concentrated Cannabis)
  • Criminal Sale of Marihuana 4th Degree, an A Misdemeanor
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a A Misdemeanor (Concentrated Cannabis)
  • Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st Degree, an A misdemeanor
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
