William Floyd to Honor 2014 Distinguished Alumni Recipients

Mastic Beach, NY, April 23, 2014 – The William Floyd School District, in collaboration with the William Floyd Alumni Association, is set to honor its sixth class of distinguished alumni for their great contributions to society in their chosen careers. This year’s class, hailing from the fields of education, law enforcement, public service and scientific research, will be honored on Friday, May 2, 2014, during Distinguished Alumni Day, an event complete with an in-school portion which provides an opportunity for alumni-student interaction followed by a celebratory dinner in the evening.

The William Floyd Distinguished Alumni Class of 2014 includes: Jacqueline Intonato Eglevsky, education, Class of 1964; Lynda Rakvin Zach, public service and social work, class of 1989; Tara Hoag D’Amato, public service, library management, class of 1990; Jason Frank, law enforcement, class of 1990; and Jason Robotham, science and entrepreneurship, class of 1994.

“Distinguished Alumni Day is designed to honor graduates for their contributions to society, to help alumni stay connected to their alma mater and to serve as an inspiration for our current students,” said Paul Casciano (Class of 1970), Superintendent of Schools, William Floyd School District. “As evidenced by our recipients, students can achieve great things with hard work, determination and a drive to succeed.”

“These five graduates serve as great role models for students and exhibit the desired characteristics of a William Floyd distinguished alumna or alumnus,” said Jon Geraci (Class of 1977), President, William Floyd Alumni Association. “I believe they provide a source of inspiration to the district’s students, fellow alumni, staff and members of the community.”

This year’s class joins the ranks of 25 previous award recipients from all aspects of society including, business, government, medicine, the sciences, literature and the arts, athletics, music, public and community service and more.

The Distinguished Alumni Dinner is scheduled for Friday, May 2, 2014 at 5 pm at Lombardi’s on the Bay in Patchogue, NY.
