Update - April 24th, 2014 - Daniel Schechter was found deceased.  He was located by New York State Police on Slide Mountain in Shandaken, New York.  New York State Police are investigating.

Port Jefferson, NY - April 23rd, 2014 -  The Suffolk County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for a missing Port Jefferson man who may be suicidal.

Daniel Schechter (pictured right), 47, was last seen at his house at 105 Cooper Court yesterday morning at 8:30 a.m. He left in a black 2013 Ford Explorer with New York license plates bearing the number GFF 4095.

His AT&T cell phone was turned off in the area of Woodstock, NY yesterday at 12:01 p.m.

He is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 195 pounds and has brown eyes and short gray hair. He was wearing black shoes, black slacks and a light green dress shirt.
