Elmont Man in Police Custody After Allegedly Threatening Two Teens with Firearm
The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of an Elmont man for an incident that occurred on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 6:00 pm in Elmont.
According to Detectives, two 16-year-old male juveniles were in the rear of .99 Cent & Up Deal located at 1545 Hempstead Turnpike when the Defendant William Stegman, 59, of 1546 Ludlam Place peered over his rear fence and pointed a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun at the juveniles. The juveniles in fear for their safety ran home and informed their parents who then notified police. After a thorough investigation, the defendant was located at his residence and placed under arrest without incident.
Defendant William Stegman is charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Menacing 2nd Degree and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
