Centerport, NY - April 22, 2016 - Centerport United Methodist Church will host its 3rd Annual Tom Adams Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, April 23rd at 11:00 am to coincide with the celebration of Earth Day.  All are welcome to bring their beloved pets for a unique outdoor celebration featuring food, music and special blessings. This year the event has been renamed in memory of Tom Adams, a beloved CUMC parishioner fondly remembered for his love of animals. Admission is free.

Centerport United Methodist Church hosts the Blessing of the Animals to coincide with the celebration of Earth Day and has an array of outdoor activities planned, including pony and tractor rides for children, a performance by Team Jilli Dog and Friends with Rick Caran, and music by CUMC’s own Leap of Faith band. Donations of dog and cat food, as well as blankets and towels will be collected for the Little Shelter Animal Rescue Adoption Center of Huntington.

The Blessing of the Animals will be held in the field behind the church where a chuck wagon BBQ lunch will be served along with special treats for pets. In addition to the blessings for living animals, all are welcome to bring photographs in remembrance of their departed pets. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animals as well. Last year, the Rev. Roy Grubbs, senior pastor, blessed over 60 dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, chickens, and horses and welcomed over 100 guests.

Centerport United Methodist Church is located at 97 Little Neck Road in Centerport. For more information call 631-261-5222 or visit www.centerportumc.org.
