Pedestrian Killed in Amityville Crash

Amityville, NY - April 21st, 2015 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Amityville this morning.

Yeimy Pichardo-Cruz was driving a 2002 Acura SUV making a left turn out of a parking lot to travel east on Oak Street when her vehicle struck a pedestrian that was crossing Oak Street at approximately 9:30 a.m.

The pedestrian, Lora Rohner, 52, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital in Bethpage where she was pronounced dead. Pichardo-Cruz, 31, of Amityville, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152.
