Authorities Seeking Masked Man Who Robbed Freeport Deli, Shot Clerk Without Provocation

Freeport, NY - April 19, 2018 - Major Case Bureau detectives from the Robbery Squad are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 2:30 am in Freeport.
 
According to detectives, a male black subject entered the Family Gourmet Deli, 292 N. Main Street, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the stores 43 year old male clerk. Without provocation the subject fired his gun twice striking the victim and then fled the store without any proceeds. He was last seen on foot heading northbound on N. Main Street towards Leonard Avenue. The subject was further described as being 5’9” to 6’ tall with an average build. He was wearing dark colored sweatpants, a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and a blue mask.
 
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and is listed in critical but stable condition.
