Central Islip, NY - April 15, 2016 - Former Suffolk County Police Sgt. Scott Greene pleaded guilty today at his court appearance in Central Islip to charges of stealing cash from motorists during traffic stops while on patrol in Brookhaven town.

Greene, 52, waived his right to appeal and pleaded guilty to three felony counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree and one charge of petit larceny (a misdemeanor) for his thefts of cash from Hispanic drivers during traffic stops in 2011 and 2012. Greene will be sentenced on May 3 by State Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho to one to three years imprisonment on the grand larceny convictions and one year for petit theft to be served concurrently with the one to three year prison term he is currently serving upstate for his conviction last January on grand larceny, petit theft and official misconduct charges. The jury, after a six day trial, did acquit Greene of six charges of grand larceny in the fourth degree as a hate crime.

The defendant is a 25 year police veteran who retired from the department after his arrest in 2014.
