Hempstead, NY - April 16, 2016 - Arson/Bomb Squad detectives report the details of a fire that occurred in Hempstead on Friday, 04/15/16 at 5:00 P.M.

According to detectives, a 12-year-old boy was playing with a plumber’s torch in a rear yard on Union Place and set a detached garage on fire.  Hempstead Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fully engulfed garage.

No injuries were reported.

The 12-year-old is being charged with Arson 4^th Degree as a juvenile.
