East End Arts Named as Finalist in Third Annual Long Island Imagine Awards

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  16. April 2015

Riverhead, NY, April 16, 2015 - East End Arts was named a Finalist in the Innovation Award category in The Third Annual Long Island Imagine Awards.

The Long Island Imagine Awards was created to offer formal acknowledgement to some of Long Island’s most effective and innovative nonprofit organizations. Last year’s event attracted over 300 attendees from the nonprofit and business communities and an even larger crowd is expected this year.

Winners will be announced LIVE at the awards gala at the Crest Hollow Country Club on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Nominated organizations, their constituents and the Long Island business community are expected to attend.

More than 130 entries were submitted for consideration in five categories, including Innovation, Leadership Excellence, Social Entrepreneurism, Rising Star, and Social Impact. East End Arts is one of four finalists in the Innovation Award category.

East End Arts was nominated due to their significant role in founding and managing Long Island Winterfest Live on the Vine, an award-winning, six-week music festival that offers more than 100 concerts in more than 20 winery tasting rooms, hotels, and restaurants across Long Island’s East End. The festival increases cultural tourism on the East End during the slowest time of year and provides attendees with exceptional and affordable music performances. More than 250 musicians are hired for the festival each year, and the increased tourism allows vineyards to maintain their staff year-round. Winterfest has an estimated $1 million economic impact. The music festival represents a unique partnership between East End Arts, The Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Long Island Wine Council, and the Suffolk County Office of Film & Cultural Affairs. Winterfest brings together a nonprofit, tourism agency, trade organization, and government office to tackle an economic problem using the arts. There is no other broadly inclusive collaborative project that utilizes the arts in this manner.

Patricia Snyder, East End Arts Executive Director comments about the nomination: “We see it every day. When the arts are part of the plan, everyone benefits. East End Arts is proud to be recognized as a leader on Long Island as a finalist for the Innovation Award.”

Finalists were chosen by Long Island business professionals during preliminary judging. Members of the Awards' Distinguished Judging Panel selected the Imagine Awards winners from among the Finalists during final judging.

“Being named a Finalist in The Long Island Imagine Awards is an important achievement,” said Ken Cerini, Founder of the Long Island Imagine Awards. “It means that independent business executives have agreed that the nominee is worthy of recognition for their innovation, leadership, entrepreneurism, and sustainability. Congratulations to all of the Finalists on their achievement.”
