Mastic Beach, NY - April 13, 2015 - The William Floyd High School Counseling Center recently held their annual On-Site College Admissions Day resulting in more than 200 student-college representative face-to-face meetings and 176 on-the-spot acceptances. During these individualized meetings, students had the opportunity to have their transcripts and applications evaluated, as well as discuss their specific goals and the offerings available at each institution.

Recruiters and representatives attended from Briarcliffe College, Dowling College, Five Towns College, Long Island University, Mercy College, Molloy College, New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), St. Joseph’s College, Suffolk County Community College, SUNY Farmingdale and officials from Job Corps. Of the accepted applicants, 22 were identified for financial scholarships or scholarship consideration and six for school honors programs.

The William Floyd School District’s goal is to achieve career and/or college-readiness for all students. To emphasize that goal, the district is hosting its annual College Awareness Week from April 27 through May 1 with various age appropriate career- and college-themed activities planned for each school. Additionally, on Wednesday, April 29 from 6-8 pm at William Floyd High School, there will be a College & Career School Fair for students and parents in grades six through 12.

Representatives from more than 85 colleges, universities and technical schools will be on hand to talk to students and families about the admissions process, academic offerings, financial aid, campus life and more.
