Bike Drive for Sandy at Temple Beth Torah & Huntington Jewish Center

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  11. April 2013

Long Island, NY - April 11th, 2013 - Spring is in the air.  People are eager to get outside.  However, for many in the areas of Long Island most hurt by Hurricane Sandy, things are different this year.  Hurricane Sandy caused inexplicable devastation and loss to many communities on the south shore of Long Island.   To date, there are still families living in temporary situations struggling to rebuild their lives.   Flooding, sewage and mold forced families to discard countless possessions.  For these families, this meant throwing out many things, including their bicycles.   We can brighten their situation and bring joy, hope and a sense of normalcy to their lives so disrupted by the events of this past winter.

To that end, we are running Bike Drive for Sandy to collect used adult and children’s bicycles in coordination with Project Nivneh, an organization specially created to provide Hurricane Sandy Relief to area residents.  See link for more information, please visit the Project Nivneh website.

Our Bike Drive for Sandy is scheduled to take place over a two-week period beginning April 22, 2013 and ending on May 5, 2013.  The bicycles can be dropped off as follows:

Temple Beth Torah - 35 Bagatelle Rd., Melville, NY
Mon–Fri.     April 22 - 26, 2013                 9 a.m. -  7 p.m.
