Patchogue, NY - April 10, 2014 - On April 7, 2014 Legislators Rob Calarco and Bill Lindsay III hosted a “Superstorm Sandy Information Open House” for Suffolk County residents.  More than 15 non-profit organizations and contractors joined the Legislators for an information session at Briarcliffe College in Patchogue, who acted as a host for the event.

“Many Suffolk County communities are still reeling from the devastating effects of the storm,” stated Legislator Calarco.  “Fourteen months later residents are still looking to raise their homes, have questions about re-building and are dealing with mold issues.  I wanted to hold this forum to get them connected with people who could give them answers.”

Staff from NY Rising, the state-funded community reconstruction program, were on-hand to answer questions and to help walk residents through the application process. “Paying for reconstruction is often the most daunting part of this arduous process, and having the NY Rising team at the table was an enormous help,” said Legislator Calarco.

“It was a pleasure to partner with Legislator Calarco to provide our Suffolk County residents with first hand assistance in dealing with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy,” stated Legislator Lindsay. “I feel that with this forum we took a huge step forward in getting our residents the help that they need and deserve.”

“Our goal was to provide residents with information they needs so they can get back in their homes and on with their lives,” Legislator Calarco stated.
