Suffolk SPCA: Bellport Woman Left Several Dogs Tethered on Chains Outside without Food, Water

Bellport, NY - Suffolk County SPCA Detectives arrested and charged a Bellport woman with animal cruelty on Monday,  April 8th, 2019.  
 
The Suffolk County SPCA responded to a house fire on Pace Avenue in Bellport after being contacted by Suffolk County Police 5th Precinct officers that there were dogs on the property.
 
Cassandra Bright, 50, was charged with neglecting two dogs found tethered on short chains in the backyard without food or water. The animals were transported to Brookhaven Animal Shelter. The remains of two other dogs were found on the property, one still tethered in a dog house. The investigation is ongoing.
  
Bright is scheduled to appear in First District Court on June 5th, 2019.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
