Hewlett, NY - April 8th, 2015 - Operation Prom will be hosting their one and only Prom Dress Drive in the Long Island area in Hewlett, New York on Tuesday, April 14th, 2015. This drive is being sponsored by the generosity of Randi and Peyton Nir. The Nir family are becoming prom heroes by opening their home for people to drop off their new or gently used prom, bridesmaids, or formal dresses or gowns for low-income high school seniors, or to donate money to help Operation PROM continue to make prom dreams come true.
Established in 2005, Operation PROM provides resources, opportunities and mentoring to students in need. Services are available to children in financial need, those who are homeless, sick, or disabled. School supplies and scholarships are available in addition to regular donations of prom dresses and tuxedos.
Operation PROM was originally established to help low-income students attend their proms by providing free prom dresses and tuxedos rentals. It has since expanded to include regular donations of clothing and school supplies to students who are sick, homeless, or live in shelters and do not have family to assist them.
To date, Operation PROM has helped thousands of students across the U.S. attend their prom at little to no cost. Beginning last year, Operation PROM began to fund, sponsor and host a prom for a school in need. Last year, Operation PROM helped a school that was hit by the devastation by Hurricane Sandy. This year, Operation Prom is throwing a first-ever prom for HOPE Academy in Orange, CT.
The Nir Family-sponsored Operation Prom Dress Drive will begin at 6:30pm and will run until 9pm on Tuesday, April 14th, 2015. It will be located at 185 Lakeview Drive, Hewlett, New York 11557.
