Suffolk Police Officer Pulls Elderly Woman from Vehicle Under Water

A Suffolk County Police Third Precinct officer, with assistance from a Good Samaritan, pulled an elderly woman from her vehicle after it became submerged in the water in Bay Shore this afternoon.

Marine Bureau pulls car from the water.

Bay Shore, NY - April 8th, 2015 - A Suffolk County Police Third Precinct officer, with assistance from a Good Samaritan, pulled an elderly woman from her vehicle after it became submerged in the water in Bay Shore this afternoon.
 
Third Precinct patrol officers responded to the Bay Shore Marina, located at the end of Clinton Avenue, at 1:11 p.m. after a 911 caller reported that a female drove into the water. Upon arrival, Officer Nicholas Aspromgos discovered that a vehicle was under water and an elderly woman was inside with water up to her neck. The windows in the vehicle were rolled up and the doors were locked.
 
Officer Aspromgos broke the window and pulled the woman out of the vehicle. With assistance from a Good Samaritan, the officer lifted the woman to the dock. Members of the Marine Bureau also responded to pull the vehicle from the water.
 
The woman, a 97-year-old Bohemia resident, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore by members of Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue for non-life-threatening injuries.
