Hempstead, NY - April 7, 2016 - Adopt a Dream is a non-profit organization that gives back to children who are underprivileged in material objects as well as in their well-being. Through fundraising, Adopt a Dream’s mission is to provide children, who are financially disadvantaged and either chronically or terminally ill or disabled, with their dream. Since the founding date in October 2011, Adopt a Dream have helped nine dreamers with their dream.

In Fall 2015, Adopt a Dream granted their seventh dream to an 11-year-old boy, AJ. He is an only child from Staten Island who loves baseball and adventures. AJ was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, a cancerous tumor in the cerebellum,in September 2014. Throughout his treatments, he was able to persevere and complete summer school, and he is now thriving as a seventh grade student.

AJ’s dream was to be a superhero for a day. His dream was a two-part extravaganza in which Adopt a Dream members made him feel strong, loved and supported. On the first day, a superhero brunch and scavenger hunt was organized for AJ and his family at Hofstra University trips to Dave and Buster and United Skates of America. On the second day, AJ and his family attended a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.

“Thank you Adopt a Dream for making my dream come true.” said AJ, “I had so much fun with you and my family and I love all of my gifts.”
