Arraigned in Central Islip on Wednesday, April 6, each defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.  Moneke Alexander is being held in the county jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond, Daniel Dumas is incarcerated in lieu of $35,000 cash bail or $70,000 bond, Daryl Dumas is in the county jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond and Terrill Simmons is being held in lieu of $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.

DA Spota said investigators found most of the heroin, crack, and powdered cocaine stored in boxes in Alexander’s child’s room next to the 2-year-old toddler’s bed, resulting in the endangering the welfare of a child charges. The child is now in the care of Suffolk County Child Protective Services.

“Dealing drugs across the street from a school and the storage of these dangerous narcotics within feet of a child’s bed tell you all you need to know about these defendants’ disregard for everything other than getting and selling heroin and other drugs,” DA Spota said.   “The shutdown of this operation is good news for the community.”

Formed in March of 2009 by District Attorney Spota, the Suffolk County Heroin Drug Task Force specifically targets street level heroin suppliers and end users.  Its member agencies include detective-investigators of the DA’s office, investigators from the Office of the Suffolk County Sheriff and Suffolk County Police detectives.  Over the past seven years, the Task Force has arrested dozens of alleged dealers, seized millions of dollars’ worth of heroin and illegal firearms, and ended the operation of multiple heroin distribution networks in the New York metropolitan area.
