Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano (standing center) commended members of the Massapequa High School Varsity Cheerleaders in honor of their First Place Win at the National Cheerleaders Association High School Open National Championship.

Massapequa, NY - April 7, 2014 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano (standing center) commended members of the Massapequa High School Varsity Cheerleaders in honor of their First Place Win at the National Cheerleaders Association High School Open National Championship. The team under the supervision of Coach Lisa Battistoni, traveled to Louisville, Kentucky where they competed at Broadbent Arena.

County Executive Mangano presented a citation to Massapequa High School Principal, Dr. Barbara Williams, and an engraved trophy to Coach Battistoni in honor of the team’s triumphant win. The County Executive thanked the team for their “hard work, dedication and perseverance.” Mr. Mangano spoke about the thousands of hours of practicing over the years that the coach and team members had done that allowed them to attain this national honor. “Your family is proud, your school is proud, and Nassau County is proud of all of you,” said County Executive Mangano.
