When two horses trotted out of their boarding area on Meadow Glen Road in Fort Salonga recently, they made it about a mile-and-a-half away from home before they ended up in the backyard of a home on Woodhollow Lane.

Suffolk police were dispatched to the scene. Fourth Precinct Sgt. Todd Regan and Officer Jonathan Drebsky responded and, with help from neighbors, were able to put an end to their adventure and coral the horses.

According to a Facebook post about the escaped duo, the Sagamore Hill Stables were contacted and took temporary custody of the horses until the owners arrived.

“There will be no horsing around on our watch,” the SCPD said in the post.
