Queens Man Arrested After Brandishing Knife During Floral Park Shoplifing Attempt

Floral Park, NY – April 4, 2017 - Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Queens man for a Robbery that occurred on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 8:30 am in Floral Park.
 
According to detectives, Royce Potts, 46, while inside Advance Auto, 2 Jericho Turnpike, walked out of the store and never paid for windshield wiper blades. After being confronted by a store employee in the parking lot, Potts displayed a knife and threatened to stab him. Potts then entered his vehicle and left the scene. 911 were then contacted by the victim.
 
Information that was received by investigating officers who responded to the scene led to the location of Potts who was placed under arrest in Bellrose a short time later without further incident.
 
Potts is charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 4/4/2017.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
