Update: Man Killed, Two Critically Injured in Single-Car Crash
Deer Park, NY - April 4, 2015 - Suffolk County Police today arrested the driver in a single car-crash that killed one passenger and critically injured another in Deer Park on January 26. Following an investigation, First Squad detectives have determined that Stephan Harbison was driving a 2003 Infiniti that struck a tree on Straight Path in Deer Park. He was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter 1st Degree, Vehicular Assault 1st Degree and Driving While Intoxicated. Harbison is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on April 4.

Stephan Harbison is the name of the man who previously identified himself as Darnell Snell. Harbison, 27, of Coram, provided detectives with wrong identification information after yesterday’s crash on Straight Path in Deer Park.

Incident: Man Killed, Two Critically Injured in Single-Car Crash
Location: Straight Path, south of Sagamore Lane, Deer Park
Date/Time: Monday, January 26, 2015 at approximately 4:30 a.m.
Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a man and critically injured two others in Deer Park early this morning.
Hamzah Abdul-Hakim, Ismail Latif, and Darnell Snell were occupants in a 2003 Infiniti that was traveling southbound on Straight Path at approximately 4:30 a.m. when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree south of Sagamore Lane. Latif was ejected and Abdul-Hakim and Snell were trapped in the vehicle and extricated by Deer Park Fire Department Rescue.
Abdul-Hakim, 28, of Wyandanch, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Latif, 28, of Wyandanch, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip via Deer Park Fire Department Rescue and was listed in critical condition. Snell, 31, of Wyandanch, was transported by Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Rescue to a landing zone and was then airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Detectives are still working to determine who was driving the vehicle. The Infiniti was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
