Chennai Dosas

Located in Hicksville, hidden in a strip mall, you’ll be met with some of the island’s most delicious Indian food at Chennai Dosas. While this hidden gem is among a few different Indian restaurants in the area, here is where you’ll want to bring your appetite. Featuring a huge lunch buffet, Chennnai Dosas specializes in South Indian vegetarian dishes. The perfect spot for those trying Indian for the first time, you’ll be able to dable in a little bit of everything.

New Chili & Curry

Another Indian gem located in Hicksville, New Chili & Curry is noted for their Chicken Tikka Masala, but honestly, we’d recommend trying just about everything on the menu. Featuring quick service and a friendly wait staff amid a tiny, authentic Indian space, New Chili and Curry is always bustling. While they don’t take reservations, you can call ahead to check on wait time.

Clay Oven

With locations in Smithtown and Hauppauge, Clay Oven is serving up authentic Indian cuisine in a fast-casual environment. Offering a mash up of Indian classics with a Pakistani flair, there truly is something for everyone. Start with their samosas, which come in chicken or vegetable and pick from any of their entrees with your choice of beef, chicken lamb or goat. Other standouts are their halal tacos and their signature Bombay Bowl (choose rice, lentils, meat and toppings for just $8).

Diwan

Located in Port Washington, Diwan is the perfect spot to enjoy a unique Indian dining experience. Featuring white tablecloths, attentive staff, and beautiful waterfront views, Diwan serves up fresh salads, chutney sauces, and a variety of meat and vegetarian options. Try their Tandoori (clay oven) selections or their traditional Karahi (meat dishes served in a thick, circular cooking pot that originated in the Indian subcontinent). Diwan is a great spot to get acquainted with the tastes and flavors of Indian cuisine.

Masalah Grill

Located in Huntington Station, owner Farzana Sohail has committed herself to providing diners with authentic Indian cuisine at Masalah Grill. Using the freshest ingredients and spices imported from India directly, and original recipes passed down from generation to generation, you’ll taste the difference here. All appetizers and entrees come with Masalah’s signature sauces.

Saaz

Located in Southampton, Saaz is the perfect spot to dive into some authentic Indian dishes with a unique spin. Featuring an intimate setting with cozy decor, diners can start their meal off with house made naan (try their chili cheese naan stuffed with chili and mozzarella cheese) and tasty signature cocktails. Saaz is the ideal space for either a casual lunch or a date night with your sweetie. We recommend trying the mixed vegetables, tandoori chicken, shrimp tikka masala and any of their Southern Indian specialities.
