Officials: Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Two Vehicles While Crossing Hempstead Street

Hempstead, NY - April 3, 2019 - The Homicide Squad is investigating a Fatal Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 9:02 pm in Hempstead.
 
According to detectives, while attempting to cross South Franklin Street at Elm Avenue in Hempstead, a male pedestrian was struck by a 2014 Nissan Altima that was traveling southbound on South Franklin Street. The male victim was then stuck by a second vehicle, a 2009 BMW X-5, also traveling south on South Franklin Street.  
 
The male, 38, suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced a short time later by a hospital physician.
 
Operators of both vehicles were not injured and remained at the scene. The vehicles were brake and safety checked.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
