Driver Killed in Calverton Motor Vehicle Crash, According to Authorities

Calverton, NY - April 5, 2019 - Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Calverton on Wednesday, April 3.
 
Jeffrey Pogar was driving a taxi eastbound on the Long Island Expressway, just west of exit 71, and veered off the road striking a tree at approximately 7:35 a.m. Detectives believe he may have suffered a medical event.
 
Pogar, 65, of East Patchogue, was transported by Manorville Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead where he was pronounced dead.
 
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
